Cramers’ Inc. was founded in 1946 by the late Ronald Gordon Cramer. A self-trained metal worker who didn’t go to college, Ronald was president of the company until the early 1980s. At that time, he took on the title of consulting engineer and passed the daily operations to his two sons, Larry and Lee, who retired in 2006.

Cramers’ Inc. has endured throughout the years following the same hard work ethic set forth by Ronald Cramer when the company was founded over 80 years ago.

Training in Metal Working

Ronald Cramer entered the sheet metal business at the age of 6, helping his father in his “tin shop” on 3rd Street in Canton, OH. Through the late 1930s and early 1940s, Ronald held several jobs. He was one of the first metal shop teachers when Timken Vocational High School opened in 1939. When World War II started, he joined Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. as a sheet metal worker in the company’s airplane department.

Cramers' Founding

In January 1946, after the Great Depression, using a building where he had done most of the construction work himself, Ronald reopened the family business in North Canton, OH. He wanted to create a job shop that made any sheet metal product in quantities ranging from one to 1,000. He wanted to work with any kind of metal and create things.

New Management

Today, Cramers’ Inc. is still family owned and run. Larry’s daughter, Dana Cramer-Toth, serves as president, and Lynn Herdlick serves as vice president after more than 30 years with the company.
